Sara Jane Caum
Helping Students Reach Their Goals

Sara Jane Caum graduated from Syracuse University in 1950. With English degree in hand, she embarked on the next phase of a lifelong commitment to education.

She began teaching English in her native Pennsylvania, then went on to earn a master’s degree in education from Penn State University and launch a long, distinguished career as a high school guidance counselor.

In addition to receiving recognition awards from both the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association and the Pennsylvania Association for College Admissions Counselors, Caum was showered with accolades by her students, and her home was filled with mementos given to her in appreciation for her help and support.

While Caum’s life was dedicated to helping countless students reach their educational goals, her passion didn’t stop there. As an active member of the Syracuse University Alumni Association—serving as president and secretary—she also gave time and energy to her beloved alma mater.

Today, Sara Jane Caum’s legacy of caring lives on through an unrestricted bequest to Syracuse University. By supporting SU’s most critical and pressing needs, her generous gift will continue to make a difference for students far into the future.
